Interns

Andy Coughlin

I have learned that the world is much bigger than the small town I grew up in.  God has called this little pastor’s kid from Laramie, Wyoming to serve Him in the big things He is doing in the world.  I have come a long way, learning and growing much in the last 4.5 years while I studied at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California.  God taught me self discipline and perseverance through my involvement on the cross country and track teams.  He taught me about being a spiritual leader through my involvement in Athletes in Action.  He taught me how to listen and relate to people through many of my friends.  Also, He taught me about how I can use the skills I learned in Civil/Structural Engineering to serve Him.  God has brought all these things together and has called me to serve as an intern this spring with eMi.

Micah Florea

I was raised in the small Bavarian-themed town of Leavenworth, Washington.  There, I grew up with my two brothers playing many sports and doing outdoor activities.  My father is a Lutheran pastor, and my mother is a nurse.  My first interest in reaching out to other cultures came in 8th grade when I started learning Spanish in order to communicate with the Mexican kids in my classes who did not speak much English.  After high school, I studied Civil Engineering at Tulane University and minored in Spanish.  I spent my entire junior year of undergraduate school studying engineering at the University of Costa Rica.  After graduating from Tulane, I worked in Washington State for a year with a small structural engineering firm before pursuing my Master’s degree at the University of Texas at Austin in Structural Engineering.  I graduated in May 2005 and worked with the same firm in Washington for the past few months before joining eMi in January.  Latin America has always held a special place in my heart, and I am very glad to be serving with eMi from the Guatemala office.

I am a graduate of Oklahoma State University from a small town in Oklahoma called Enid.  I graduated with my bachelors in mechanical engineering in December of 2004.  I never saw myself being a missionary.  When I graduated from school I moved to Kansas City and was well on my way to living out the American Dream.  However this is not what God had in mind.  Soon after moving to Kansas City, God had me on my way to Colorado Springs to be an intern with eMi.  I spent the fall of 2005 in the Colorado office learning a lot about eMi but more about God’s plan for my life.  Now God has brought to Guatemala City and is continuing to teach me and inflame my passion for Him and His people.
